HISTORY
Since my 40s I have experienced progressively bad eyesight and cataracts. For 25 years, I have worn reading glasses and computer glasses, and for the last 20 years I have worn both type glasses over contact lenses.
PROBLEM
This year I developed a rash under both my eyelids and I can no longer wear contracts. My worst fear is what do I do in an emergency/disaster? I can’t see and I have no way to get to my glasses let alone find them. I have spent countless hours at the optometrist and beaucoup money on optometry exams, prescription glasses, “drug store glasses”, contact lenses, cleaning solution, contact lens cases, eye drops, glass cases and a few eye infections. My sight is a hazard in my own home because I cannot focus from the kitchen down two steps to the laundry room.
SOLUTION
A friend told me of Dr. Wallace. I was able to make an appointment within the week. I filled out the initial paperwork online. I arrived at my appointment, checked-in and was seen by the technician right away. He gave me several eye tests. Dr. Wallace then greeted me. He explained he could correct my astigmatism, eliminate the cataracts, and implant lens that would provide multifocal vision. We discussed risks, my fear of eye surgery, cost, surgery scheduling and exactly how functional my both near and distant vision would be. He was very generous and forth coming with his information and I felt very comfortable in his presence. He dissolved all my concerns. He inspired confidence in his patient —–me, he was kind, considerate and cheerful. He did not rush me. His office staff was very helpful, courteous and respectful. Together his staff and I took care of the charges and eye prescriptions. They made sure I had all the appropriate information to coordinate my surgery with the surgery center. His office contacted me several times by e-mail to confirm all the necessary information. Nothing was overlooked, missed or fell through the cracks.
RESULTS
Within a month, Dr. Wallace restored my vision! He did my left eye first, then three weeks later my right eye – my dominant eye. I experienced no complications, no pain, and no stress. It is very comforting to have excellent vision. I will have great vision in the forthcoming years with no issues and no further costs. It is an extraordinarily fruitful adventure.
Thank you Dr. Wallace and Staff.
Doctor Wallace says:
As is typical with those that desire vision correction for cataracts, Linda “wanted it all.” She wanted great vision at distance and good reading vision in both eyes, such that she would not have to wear glasses. She had been farsighted with a bit of astigmatism all her life.
It is now possible to help those like Linda, using multifocal lens implants or IOLs. We discussed all of the available options with her (including monofocal IOLs, monovision, multifocal, etc.. She chose to have multifocal IOLs and laser-assisted cataract care. This custom approach allows us to design a treatment to eliminate any pre-existing optical imperfection (farsightedness and astigmatism, in her case), restoring extremely good distance and near clarity in both eyes.
On the first morning after her surgery, Linda was able to read the smallest letters on the eye chart (“20/20″ for distance), and see very small print on a card at 16” (Jaeger-2 for near). It was a delight to see her expression light up when she realized how well she was seeing.
Congratulations, Linda!
