Jan came to see me after his wife Julie underwent LASIK here. She was extremely happy with her results, and Jan was interested for himself, but Jan was concerned because of the severity of his prescription.
In Jan’s case, I felt that his visual quality would be better with cataract-style surgery than with LASIK, and the magnitude of his correction was above the upper limits of what LASIK corrects well. So we elected cataract-style surgery with lens implantation. In addition, I performed “limbal relaxing incision” surgery to reduce his astigmatism.
Jan’s surgery was performed in May ’02, and we last saw him in mid-September. He feels this surgery is one of the best things he has ever done for himself.
