Dr. Wallace, I wanted to take the time to thank you and your staff for a life changing experience. The entire procedure, from the preliminary exam through the follow up examinations, have been handled with a great amount of care and attention to detail.
You explained the whole procedure to me in a very easy to understand manner. This was especially important to me since you suggested that I had the Wavefront procedure in the right eye only and regular LASIK in the left eye. Well I’m glad I listened to your advise since my vision after the procedure is better than it ever was with corrective lenses.

Sergio’s situation is interesting, in light of the new “wavefront” treatment capability. He has known for years that the vision in his right eye was never quite as sharp as the vision in his left. No eye doctor had ever given him a decent explanation for why this was the case. Even though the right eye was correctable to a “20/20” level, it wasn’t as ‘crystal clear’ as in the left eye.
Once we had an opportunity to evaluate Sergio, the reason became clear. His topography (below) showes a subtle but clear surface distortion and curvature asymmetry in the right eye, while the left was entirely normal. His wavefront measurement also showed somewhat significant ‘higher-order aberrations’ in the right eye whereas the left eye showed almost none.
I told Sergio that he would likely achieve a great result with conventional LASIK for his left eye, but that standard treatment in the right eye would probably not eliminate the slight blur, smear, and absence of clarity he has had for years. However, I felt that wavefront-guided treatment might allow the right eye to see every bit as well as the left. Sergio chose to have wavefront LASIK for the right eye and conventional LASIK for the left.
Sergio now enjoys an unbelievable 20/15 clarity in both eyes, and states that there is absolutely “no difference” in image quality.
The Greeks have a phrase that summarizes this nicely, “Race ips eloquitir”. This means, “It speaks for itself.”
