BRAVO ZULU to Dr. Wallace and his staff! Up until 27 December ’00, I had been totally dependant upon contacts and glasses to function normally since the age of ten. Without correction, my vision at the time of my LASIK surgery was 20/500.
Being an air traffic controller, my eyes are my most valuable assets; in fact, to medically qualify to be an air traffic controller, one’s vision must be correctable to 20/20. Although I could see 20/20 with my contacts, I often feared that some day my nearsightedness might disqualify me from continuing in the career I love.
I started researching the LASIK procedure in November ’00. I chose an eye center that seemed quite reputable for my initial exam. Throughout the course of that exam, I never even met my surgeon. I dealt with an optometrist and was told I would not meet my surgeon until the date of surgery. This, along with the fact that for some reason the optometrist recommended PRK instead of LASIK, concerned me.
I sought a second opinion, and found out about Dr. Wallace, who came highly recommended. With my vision at stake, along with the lives of air passengers and billions of dollars of aircraft I’m responsible for every day, I wanted the best when it came to my LASIK.
As a former Petty officer 1st Class in the U.S. Navy, I know pride, professionalism and excellence when I see it! Dr. Wallace showed outstanding knowledge and confidence, and had a great bedside manner. I was equally impressed by his staff, who were extremely courteous and helpful.
Long story short, my procedure went very well and took only 15 minutes. I felt no pain and must say the surgery was a walk in the park. The next day, I tested 20/20 in the right eye and 20/25 in the left. Over the next several days, my eyes continued to heal and I now see 20/15 in both eyes! My results are everything I wanted, but more than I expected! I salute Dr. Wallace for giving me the gift of great vision without the burden of my old contacts. He truly does an outstanding job. It is worth mentioning that Dr. Wallace and is staff did NOT treat me like just another patient or a number, but like an individual who’s comfort and assurance was of utmost importance. Dr. Wallace has my strongest possible recommendation to anyone considering LASIK.
LASIK is something you must consider seriously if you want the miracle of normal vision without glasses and/or contacts. I’m thrilled with my “”new eyes”” and wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.
Sincerely,
Jason L. Toelle
