To others who may share my fright about eye surgery:
I was extremely scared to get cataract surgery even though my vision was getting worse. I was becoming sad because I could no longer engage in my normal day to day activities with ease. My daughter convinced me to visit Dr. Wallace.
From the very beginning, Dr. Wallace and his entire staff have been extremely kind. Dr. Wallace took time to thoroughly explain the procedure to me and to help reassure me that everything would be okay. I never once felt pressure from the doctor to get the surgery. Instead, he give me all the necessary information so I could make the best decision.
On the day of the surgery, I was beyond nervous, but once again Dr. Wallace made me feel at ease. I experienced absolutely no pain during and after the surgery. Dr. Wallace even called me the evening of surgery day to check on my well-being.
My vision is now 20/20. I can’t remember the last time I was able to see this clear. There are simply no words to express how grateful I am to Dr. Wallace. He is definitely the best eye doctor in LA and I without a doubt will highly recommend him to all my friends.

Hiroko’s experience is rather typical for many people who find themselves with progressively dimming vision and loss of detail clarity brought on by cataracts. We discussed all options available for her (and with all the modern lens implants, there are many!). We decided that the best option for her would be to use aspheric monofocal lenses targeting one eye optimally for distance viewing, and one eye optimally for intermediate range, meaning 18 – 24″. With both eyes open, this affords a very broad range of comfortable, clear vision enabling one to view a computer monitor, dashboard, cell phone, newspaper and similar items at intermediate range, while also being able to watch TV, see road signs, and drive. The precision of our ability to measure the needs of each eye, and calculate the ideal prescription strength for the lens implants of each accordingly, make this quite a routine process nowadays.
